February 7, 2017Safer Internet Day 2017: European Commission welcomes alliance of industry and NGOs for a better internet for minors. eNACSO is member of the Alliance.
On the Safer Internet Day eNACSO is hosted by the Commission at the Berlaymont to the high level meeting of the Alliance to better protect minors online.
The objective of the event is to present the Statement of Purpose of the Alliance and discuss the next steps for its delivery in the context of a new self-regulatory initiative launched by the EC. The meeting will bring together members of the Industry and other relevant stakeholders, including young people, to discuss possible implementing actions and seek synergies among the Alliance members to improve child online safety.
In the Statement of Purpose, announced today, companies agreed to curb harmful content, harmful conduct and harmful contact (such as cyberbullying, sexual extortion and exposure to violent content). eNACSO as an associate of the Alliance would very much like to remain part of an on-going and transparent process arising from the Statement of Purpose and to be able to comment on the analysis and evaluation of the work that is going to be carried out in the coming months in order to possibly propose pragmatic and sustainable solutions to real problems in the scope of the focus areas (Harmful content, Harmful conduct, Harmful contact).
