As every year eNACSO is at Safer Internet Day 2017 with a lot of activities and events taking place all around its European Space! Taking place on Tuesday, 7 February 2017 with a theme of ‘Be the change: Unite for a better internet’, we call upon all stakeholders to join together to make the internet a safer and better place for all, and especially children and young people.
This Website showcases the many events and activities which will be taking place across the globe to mark on the day… find out what’s happening within eNACSO, and find contacts and resources to help you to ‘be the change’ for a better internet not just on SID, but all year through.

About our activities:
Coordinated by the Italian Safer Internet Centre (SIC) “Generazioni Connesse”, the celebration of Safer Internet Day 2017 in Italy involves organisations, public institutions, ICT industries and schools to help promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.
The main event organised by the Italian SIC will take place in Rome at the “Exhibition Hall Guido Reni” where an exposition will be arranged of the activities carried out by the organisations, public institutions, and ICT industries to make the internet a better place for kids. The event will run from from 10.00 to 15.00.
The Education Minister will open the exhibition in the morning calling for the commitment of everyone to make together a better internet.
Around the exhibition hall, each organisation/institution will have an exhibition stand, roller banners and pop-up displays to show which activities it is implementing to make a better and safe internet. They will show their activities and products, meanwhile they will take part in a workshop.
A theatre performance will involve children and teachers telling a story of cyberbullying truly happened. In a funny way, the performance has the ability of underlying every aspect of the adolescent’s life and the emotion, fear and incomprehension of the young people involved in a cyberbullying situation.
Moreover Save the Children Italy on the occasion of the event will publish a research conducted by IPSOS on Children and Internet: adults and teens are increasingly connected via smartphones and become more and more social, but both move on the network almost completely unaware of the consequences of their online activities. 8 out of 10 care of their data on the network, but have no idea or what data is collected or how they are used.
What we are doing to ‘be the change’ for a better internet
We are involving relevant stakeholders, ICT industries, organisations and schools to work together for a better, safer internet for children.
We are working to ensure that the internet becomes a trusted environment for children by making it more child friendly, as well as by improving its use and that of other digital technologies by children and young people within their personal and social lives, for their studies and for future work.
We also offer one-to-one conversations, online and on telephone, with trained helpers in real time to give advice and support to parents and children on issues related to their use of online technologies

ECPAT AUSTRIA
About our activities:
On the occasion of Safer Internet Day 2017 ECPAT Austria draws attention to the importance of peers in media education and presents first insights into their project „make-IT-safe 2.0“: In this peer project, young people from youth centres are trained to help their peers stay safe online. On January 27 the first peer experts started their training in Graz with lots of enthusiasm and motivation. Besides trainings, the peer experts will also help develop a new online-based toolbox with materials and „peer-proved“ methods for training and awareness activitites on online safety. The toolbox will be specifically designed for peer projects and for the out-of-school context and will be made publicly available at the end of this year.
What we are doing to ‘be the change’ for a better internet
In the project „make-IT-safe 2.0“ run by ECPAT Austria, young people themselves step up to be the change and unite for a better internet: As trained „peer experts“ they assist other young people to use the internet and social media in a safe way – and unite against online violence such as cyber bullying, hate speech or cyber grooming.
NSPCC (UK)
About our activities:
The NSPCC and O2 will deliver a number of online safety workshops to parents through schools and communities. Parents are also able to drop into any O2 store in the country to get help in setting up parental controls on their child’s devices, or they can call the O2 & NSPCC Online Safety Helpline. We will also be supporting the day on social media.
What we are doing to ‘be the change’ for a better internet
We will be focusing on the SID theme of the power of the image. Our social activity will aim to prompt parent/child discussions around sexting and impact of images.

What we are doing to ‘be the change’ for a better internet
As you know, every February on Safer Internet Day, people around the world join forces to empower children and youth online and teach them how to use the online technology in a safe and responsible way.
And we take this year’s title very seriously, as we invite as many schools, libraries, youth and other organisations, and parents associations as possible to organise an activity on or around Safer Internet Day themselves.

About our activities / What we are doing to ‘be the change’ for a better internet
We are launching material – that is meant to be used at parents meetings at school. www.reddbarna.no/nettvett. The purpose is to encourage discussions so parents start to talk more about different issues related to children’s online life. We want to encourage parents to cooperate to restrict and support children better.
We are have a webinar – meant for teachers that argue for their role in using this material and also raising awareness at parents meetings. https://www.visma.no/unique/webinar/webinar-nettvett/
We are also participating at a session with Microsoft teaching children to code. Our role is to educate children to focus on ethics like coding, and strengthen awareness about the services role to ensure participation for all and reducing risk for abuse/bullying.

About our activities
This week (since 30/01/2017) Children Support Center national started campaign against Sexting—‘I think so I don’t put on the internet” (http://www.pvc.lt/lt/socialines-kampanijos/mastau-todel-nesiunciu) in Lithuania.
What we are doing to ‘be the change’ for a better internet
We have campaign with posters, billboards, videoclip, press release and other info on mass media. The target group is youth, parents and community. The aim is –to reduce sexting on the Internet through teaching yoputh to think before putting own photos on Facebook and others sources.
